Who needs the pump installer bond?
The Georgia Water Well Standards Advisory Council and the Georgia Water Well Standards Act requires that any persons engaging in the business of installing pumps and pumping equipment on or in water wells located in the State of Georgia must obtain a Pump Installers Certificate. Licensees must post and maintain a $20,000.00 Water Well Pump Installers Performance Surety Bond as part of the licensing requirements. Employees or partners of a business that have at least one certified pump installer on staff do not have to be individually certified, nor do those employed by a certified pump installer and working under his direction.
What is the pump installer bond?
The $20,000 pump installer bond protects the party requesting the surety bond, the Obligee, against any financial losses as a result of poor financial choices, damages, unethical decisions, or a failure to adhere to state and local laws on the part of you, the Principal. By obtaining your bond, you are telling the Obligee that you can be trusted and that you stand by your business decisions. No individual shall drill a water well or geothermal borehole without first having a Water Well Contractor's License issued by the Water Well Standards Advisory Council.
